Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information, and the rights you have over it.
Range Roofing & Guttering Ltd ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in it:
- By post: Range Roofing & Guttering Ltd, 22 Seymour Ave, Morden SM4 4RD
- By email: info@rangeroofingandguttering.co.uk
- By phone: 07417 301602
The information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus basic technical information about how the website is used.
- Quote, callback and contact forms: your name, phone number, and, if you provide them, your email address, postcode, the service you need, your property type, how you heard about us and your message.
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
- Phone calls and emails: the details you share with us about your property and the work you need.
- Website usage: pages visited, time on site, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location (town or city level) and how you found us. This is collected by Google Analytics using cookies, as explained below.
- Server logs: our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address and the time of your visit, to keep the website secure and working.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not ask for sensitive information such as health or financial details through this website.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry, arrange a roof survey and prepare your quote.
- To carry out and manage any work you ask us to do, including scheduling, updates and aftercare.
- To keep records of the work we have done and any guarantee we have given.
- To send our seasonal roof care newsletter, if you have signed up for it.
- To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.
- To protect the website from spam and misuse.
Our legal basis for using it
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each use of your information:
- Steps before a contract, and the contract itself: when you ask for a quote or book work, we need your details to respond and to carry out the job.
- Legitimate interests: to answer general enquiries, keep business records, improve our services and keep the website secure. We always balance these interests against your rights.
- Consent: for our newsletter and for analytics cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to keep certain records, for example for tax and accounting.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our website uses:
- Google Analytics, which uses cookies to measure how many people visit the site and which pages they view. The information is collected in a way that does not identify you directly.
- Google Tag Manager, which loads our analytics tools. It does not itself store personal information.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies to show you adverts. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The website will still work if you do.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information or share it with other companies for their own marketing. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run our business, and only as much as they need:
- Hostinger, which hosts our website and email.
- Google, which provides Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Our accountants, insurers and professional advisers, where needed.
- Authorities such as HMRC or the police, if the law requires it.
Some providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, it is protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customers: for as long as your workmanship guarantee lasts, plus six years, so we can honour the guarantee and meet our legal and accounting duties.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
How we keep it safe
Our website uses HTTPS encryption, so information you send through our forms is protected on its way to us. Access to your information is limited to the people who need it to deal with your enquiry or job, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to us using your information based on our legitimate interests;
- ask us to transfer your information to another organisation;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example to stop receiving our newsletter.
To use any of these rights, email us at info@rangeroofingandguttering.co.uk. We will reply within one month. There is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the law changes or we start using new tools. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
